Musical Instrument Learning for Kids living in the inner-city is important for their development and we provide musical scholarships for 1-on-1 instruction.
Our 2024 Timeline
We expect that our next scholarship competition will occur in New York City in June 2024. Please stay tuned…
We’re presently in the planning stages for our next competition and we will soon be filing to receive tax-exempt status from the IRS and become a 501(c)(3) Organization.
Our scholarships per student are approximately $1,700 per year and are paid directly by to the instructor by Musical INstrument Learning for Kids, Inc. DBA MILK USA after the student completes a weekly lesson, usually less than 48 hours of the time of instruction.
We hope to fund 10 scholarships in June and need over 50 applicants. Please stay tuned.

Fun and fun
Every child deserves the best start and according to research by Dr. Anita Collins:
- Learning how to play a musical instrument benefits the brain more than any other art.
- Playing music increases the volume and activity of the brain’s corpus callosum the bridge between the two hemispheres that may allow musicians to solve problems more effectively and creatively in both academic and social settings
- Musicians often have higher levels of executive function, a category of interlinked tasks that includes planning, strategizing and attention to detail
- Musicians exhibit enhanced memory functions, creating, storing and retrieving memories more quickly and efficiently
- Artistic and aesthetic aspects of learning to play a musical instrument are different from any other activity studied, including other arts.
